31. Introduction to Extrusion
Extrusion is a process used to create objects of a fixed cross-sectional profile. A material is pushed through a die of the desired cross-section to obtain required object shape. Extrusion operation template guides the user to set up the process and define process parameters with ease. Extrusion template is provided with a special meshing method in “Mesh Extruding Utility” to reduce the time while generating workpiece mesh in ALE Exrrusion. Separate contact algorithm implemented in Extrusion template helps the user to generate complete contact over workpiece with container in ALE Extrusion. In DEFORM Extrusion template three types of simulation methods are available,
-
ALE Extrusion
-
Steady-state Extrusion
-
Lagrangian Extrusion
The ALE/Steady-state Extrusion simulation helps the user to get quick estimate of the output shape and state variable values. User can define bearing surface and modify the bearing surface geometry or its friction values in ALE/ Steady-state simulations to optimize the bearing surface geometry.
